Carara Rain-forest & Tarcoles River Tour

Carara National Park is located on the central Pacific coast of Costa Rica, next to El Rio Grande de Tarcoles. Carara Park is the only transitional forest, between dry Tropical Forest & Tropical Rain Forest in Costa Rica.


This Rain-forest is home to over  360 species of birds such as toucans, scarlet macaws, trogons, woodpeckers, 3 species of monkeys Howler monkeys, white-faced Capuchin & spider monkey. Likewise, agoutis, raccoons, peccaries, White-nosed Coatis, reptiles, bats, tree frogs, Poison dart frogs, and toads.


 Carara offers nature lovers the opportunity to admire the outstanding Scarlet Macaw, number 1 nesting forest of central Pacific of this beautiful bird population.

 

After the Park, enjoy navigating through Tarcoles river, the most biodiverse place in Central Pacific. Your professional English speaking guide will point out this prehistoric reptile "Crocodiles" that some of them measure from few inches and up to 18 feet long. This Jurassic experience at our safety boat will take you to the Mangrove forest to look for some of the most colorful birds & baby crocodiles.

 

Tarcoles river has one of the highest populations of crocodiles in Central America & Known to be a bird migratory destination during the dry season. Photographers & Nature lovers will have unique chances for pictures taken of  Crocodiles, Macaws, Hawks, eagles, Kingfishers, Tiger Herons, Great Egrets, Roseate spoonbills, Basilisks, and Iguanas.
