Costa Rica has two seasons during the year, half of the year is rainy, and the other half is the dry season.

December to April is dry season and is very well pronounced from South of Jaco beach to the Northwest Pacific Guanacaste.

On the other hand, May to November is the rainy season all over the country. If your idea is to do different tours while in Costa Rica like Rain-forest Nature walks, Volcanoes, or to go around the country, make sure you buy a rain poncho or rain jacket.

2. Insect repellent

Ticos (Costa Ricans), don´t have much problem with mosquitoes, as well as some travelers. Even though, you never know how sensitive you are to insect bites, for this reason, it is highly recommended to pack one bottle of mosquito repellent.

There has been a lot of exaggeration about mosquitoes in Costa Rica. But this does not mean that there is any mosquito!

3. Sunscreen

The Tropics! Costa Rica poses a very stable weather with of almost 12 hours of sunlight all year round and a temperature of 90 to 95 Fahrenheit during the day.

For this reason, you must bring sunscreen with a solar UV protection over 50.

4. Hiking shoes

A quarter of the land is protected within the National Park System including Carara National Park, San Luis Cloud-forest, Manuel Antonio and Poas Volcano are some of the different Parks you will likely to visit during your vacations.

So, if your idea is to visit these natural beauties do not forget to pack hiking shoes.

5. Sunglasses & Sandals

Los Suenos Resort, Jaco beach & Guanacaste are the most popular destinations for families and friends trips. All these beautiful places have gorgeous beaches for surfing, fishing and strolling that you will like to do any of these ones.

Also, the sand is usually quite hot at midday and the reflection of the ocean  is very strong so it would be a good idea to bring a pair of sunglasses & sandals, If you have those items, pack them. They may be cheaper in your country.

6. Clothes

Long sleeved T-shirts for sunburn protection, hiking, and fishing. As you already know it is quite hot, so shirts that wick away sweat, and dry fit shirts are ideal for rain-forest hikes and outdoor activities.

Sunset sailing tours, surfing lessons or just swimming in the ocean are some of the many activities available to do on your vacation. Then, bring a swimsuit if this is part of your plans.

7. Documents

Before you get on the flight, make sure get some passports copies. Why? Because on every occasion, you go out of the hotel, the only personal document you should take with you are some copies of the passport and original driver’s license.

The original passport document can be left in the hotel room because it will not be necessary.

All items listed above can be easily purchased in Herradura Los Suenos Marriott Costa Rica, Jaco beach, Guanacaste & San Jose. But, most items are cheaper outside of Costa Rica.
